Rent to own homes for buyers
For the person who can manage a monthly payment but cannot get a mortgage approved today. How it works, what it costs, and what it does not do.
A single-family house in Atlanta, the bedrooms your family actually needs, and your purchase price agreed in writing before you move in. You rent it, you live in it, and you buy it when a lender says yes. More people come to us from Atlanta than from any other city we work.
The thing most people tell us first is not about money. It is that they have been in an apartment for years, stacked above and below other people, with children who have outgrown the space. One Atlanta buyer put it plainly: "I'm tired of living up, under people. I need my space." That is what this arrangement is for, and Atlanta is a city with enough houses in it to actually solve that.
Worth knowing here
Almost nobody who contacts us from Atlanta is short of income. They are short of a credit score, and usually for a reason that has an end date: medical bills being paid off, student debt being consolidated, a score that is being rebuilt month by month. One person wrote that their own score was good and their wife's was around 640 while they paid off her medical expenses. Another was finishing nursing school in December and moving from LPN to RN. These are people whose approval is a year away, not a decade.
That gap is the entire problem rent to own solves. You agree the price now, in writing, and you live in the house while the credit work finishes. It is not a loan and it is not a promise that a lender will approve you later, so the honest version is this: it buys you time in the house you want, and the qualifying is still something you have to go and do.
One practical thing about Atlanta specifically: most of the city is in Fulton County, but the eastern side of it sits inside DeKalb County, and the two have their own property tax rates and school districts. Two houses a few streets apart can carry different running costs for that reason alone, so check which county a house is actually in before you fix a price on it.

The numbers
Atlanta is one city name covering very different prices, and that catches people out. These are the areas we are asked about most, with Realtor.com's September 2026 residential inventory figures.
| Area | Median asking price | Days to go under contract |
|---|---|---|
| 30349, south Atlanta | $270,500 | 56 days |
| 30344, East Point area | $264,975 | 65 days |
| 30311, southwest Atlanta | $286,450 | 74 days |
| 30315, south Atlanta | $297,500 | 65 days |
| 30331, southwest Atlanta | $304,500 | 72 days |
| 30318, west Atlanta | $364,975 | 59 days |

Here is the part worth knowing before you start looking: across the whole city the median asking price runs from about $224,000 in one zip code to roughly $1.78 million in another, under the same word, "Atlanta". A budget that buys a three-bedroom house on the south and west sides does not buy a garage door in Buckhead. If somebody shows you a figure for "Atlanta" without saying which part, it tells you almost nothing.
That cuts in your favor though, and it is why Atlanta is a better city for this than the Gwinnett suburbs we also cover. Out in Snellville and Lawrenceville there is very little under $335,000. Several of the Atlanta areas above start near $270,000, and they carry thousands of listings between them rather than a handful. More houses at a price you can reach means a real choice of house, which is the whole point of picking it yourself.

What we do here
Everything below is available on an Atlanta house. The detail lives on its own page rather than being repeated here.
For the person who can manage a monthly payment but cannot get a mortgage approved today. How it works, what it costs, and what it does not do.
An inherited property, a rental you are finished with, or a house that will not sell at the number you need.
The questions and answers cover the option fee, the term, and what happens if you are not ready to buy at the end. Read that part before you sign anything, with us or with anybody else.
